Oktoberfest and Big Tex

I think I've been to more fairgrounds in the past two weeks than I have the past 2 years! We headed up to Addison two Sundays ago to Oktoberfest with Colleen and the boys. It was a pretty impressive operation with a lot of good food and well, beer. It was a gorgeous day, of course it was 90 degrees by noon but still beautiful! James, Noah and Alex braved the fair rides and took a ride on some spinny thing, which wasn't the best idea after James indulged in some German fare. He did it with a smile though and the boys loved it!

The following weekend, James' sister Catherine was in town and we hit up the Texas State Fair. We enjoyed Fried Snickers, Nachos, and Corn Dogs (all the standard fair food), but stayed away from the Fried Bacon, Fried Coke, Fried Cheesecake, Fried Banana Splits, Fried...

Okay you get the point. Everything is Fried at the state fair...

Andrew had a blast and really enjoyed the wildlife...

There were lots of crazy animals like mini cows, llamas, sheep, etc... We even saw the flying dog show with dogs jumping 30' into a pool. A Hog that weighed 1200lbs and a Bull that weighed some approx. 2500lbs. Kids doing a rodeo with pigs, beautiful horses, and much more...

So to sum it up the Walton Family experience at the Texas State Fair was a very positive one, although we didn't get home with any goldfish. It was clean, not too crowded, and Andrew had lots of furry friends to sleep near. We can't wait to go back with him when he can really enjoy all the sights, sounds, smells =), and someday the rides!
